Our History

Over 40 years ago, a group of parents and educators were interested in creating an early education program where children’s interests and needs would drive the curriculum.

1982

Turtle Island Children's Center (TICC) was established in Meg Baird's home, providing preschool programs for 3 and 4 year olds as well as an after-school program.

1983

Moved to Woodrow Avenue and added a Kindergarten program.

1986

Expanded to add an infant and toddler program.

1990

Moved to current location at 659 Elm Street.

1998

Reincorporated as a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization.

2021

First adventure preschool class implemented.
